from the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.

A personal message from the Dean

Welcome back everyone!  I hope you all had a well-earned break and have been enjoying the endless summer.

Firstly, I would like to acknowledge the wonderful achievements of four faculty academics who made this year’s New Year Honours List; Susan Morton, Andrew Connolly, Siouxsie Wiles and Dianne Sharp.  The full list of University honours can be read here

Our valuable students are making their way back onto campus now with Orientation week commencing on Monday 25 February.  Whilst most activity is held on City Campus, we will be hosting a Clubs Day this year, which we hope will provide an opportunity for more social interaction that students asked for in last year’s survey.  Bridget Kool presented the full findings at our faculty meeting earlier this week and it was also great to see so many of you in attendance.  I do encourage all staff to continue to attend meetings this year to keep updated on faculty business.

I’m pleased to report our new building in Park Avenue is slightly ahead of schedule, but as we all know with any building or renovation, this can change without warning.  I will endeavour to keep you updated as the year progresses.

We are still going through some changes with functional reviews across the University and I appreciate this can cause some uncertainty.  Please be mindful of others and hopefully we can enjoy a successful year with many more milestones to celebrate in the months ahead.
